Graphic Design and Illustration

The students will be working in Adobe Illustrator CC. The students will begin Ch. 9 “Transforming, Positioning, and Drawing”. In Lesson 18, they will learn to add, edit, rename, and reorder artboards in an existing document; navigate artboards; work with rulers and guides; move, scale, and rotate objects using a variety of methods; reflect, shear, and distort objects; position objects with precision; position and align content with Smart Guides; use the Free Transform tool to distort an object; create a PDF; and put graphic design skills to work in public relations. In Lesson 19, they will learn to understand paths and anchor points, draw curved and straight lines with the Pen tool, edit curved and straight lines, add and delete anchor points, convert between smooth points and corner points, create dashed lines and add arrowheads, draw and edit with the Pencil tool, work with the Join tool, and explore entrepreneurial opportunities in graphic design.

In Lesson 16, they will learn to create a document with multiple artboards, use tools and commands to create a variety of shapes, understand Live Shapes, round corners, work with the Shaper Tool, work with drawing modes, and explore the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications career cluster. In Lesson 17, they will learn to cut with the Scissors tool, join paths, work with the Knife tool, work with the Eraser tool work with the Shape Builder tool, work with the Pathfinder commands to create shapes, create a compound path, edit strokes with the Width tool, outline strokes, and use mathematics in graphic design.

In Lesson 14, they will learn to open an Adobe Illustrator CC File, work with the Tools panel, work with panels, use viewing options to change the display magnification, navigate multiple artboards and documents, explore document groups, find resources for using Illustrator, and study workplace ethics. In Lesson 15, they will differentiate between the various selection tools and use different selection techniques, recognize Smart Guides, use tools and command to align shapes and points to each other and the artboard, group and ungroup items, work in isolation mode, arrange content, select objects that are behind other objects, hide and lock items for organizational purposes, and employ personal and professional cyber safety rules.

The students will be working on Chapter 5, Lesson 9, 10, and 11. Lesson 9: They will learn to use filters, color effects, the History panel, plus upscaling a low-resolution image for high-resolution printing. This lesson will conclude with an overview of compositional elements in graphic design. Lesson 10: They will learn to use custom brush settings, mixed colors, and brushes to blend color. Lesson 11: They will learn to use Adobe Camera Raw with Photoshop to adjust image tone, color, and sharpness.
